5 camping DAYS around the south of Portugal

"Às vezes ouço passar o vento; e só de ouvir o vento passar, vale a pena ter nascido." ("Sometimes I hear the wind pass by; and just hearing the wind pass by, it's worth being born.")

Fernando Pessoa, portugues poet

A phrase that represents the wind, the sun, the fish smell of the port, the islands of white sand and the green forests, between Oporto, Lisbon and the south made of the white houses of the Algarve.

Itinerary:

1.Faro village: splendid old town surrounded by an old Moorish wall. The Cathedral is located in its heart and, from the clock, the view of the city and the Ria Formosa Natural Park is breathtaking. You can then visit the church of Carmo (Igreja do Carmo) and the original Chapel of the Bones (Capela dos Ossos). The walls of the Chapel of the Bones are encrusted with bones and skulls that belonged to the bodies exhumed from the city's overcrowded cemeteries! The Ria Formosa Natural Park consists of a series of salt water lagoons and protected muddy plains that shelter migratory birds and other wildlife

2.Ferry to Isla deserta: The Desert Island sand bar island is situated south of Faro and is the least developed of the three islands that surround the Ria Formosa national park.  With the 10km coastline containing a giant variety of birds species!

3. Tavira: 30 km east of Faro, Tavira is a pretty coastal city. Preserved from tourist development for many years, the city, it has beautiful bridges and an incredible number of religious monuments with warm and beautiful colors.

Carpa White Badge

One of my favorite moments and recommendation if you go to any area of portugal: a Fado concert . Here in an old castle transformed into a restaurant; Fado:  Typical Portuguese music characterized by a mixture of tango, flamenco, guitar, sad nostalgia and romanticism.
