Switzerland

Flowers, the word that describes this country. Nice place at the Léman lake border full of little anecdotes that I will tell you below! The country of cloks, chocolate, cheese and above all lakes and mountains that seem to be taken from a children's story.

The flowered clock

With its 2.5 meters, the hand that marks the seconds is the largest in the world. The adjustment of the time is done by satellite.

Botanical garden, what if I could talk to the plants?

Broken Chair is made of 5.5 tons of wood and is 12 meters high. It symbolizes the rejection of anti-personnel mines and cluster munitions. The aim was to get as many signatures as possible from states to the Ottawa Convention on anti-personnel mines.

The famous 150m water jet! You know why it's here? it's not to throw water. In 1886 the city decided to build a hydraulic plant to distribute the driving force of the Rhône to the Geneva craftsmen. In the evening, when these craftsmen stop their machines, overpressure occurs. It was then that the idea of creating this jet to control the pressure by letting the overpressure water escape to the sky was born.

TIme to Eat!

I don't usually choose luxury places along my trips but this taste experience was unique! Eating at the Beau Rivage palace in Genova. Incredible palace where I was lucky enough to meet the great starred chef Dominique Gautier and his restaurant "Le chat botté". And what did I ask for? A delicious gazpacho of green tomato, cheese and strawberries followed by the chef's delicious vegetarian surprise a multicolored paradise of unknown vegetables and sauces

Basel city

More pics here! -->

Beautiful city (the third largest in Switzerland) located on the French border full of emblematic buildings and old streets along the Rhin river. I Had the good fortune to see it at its Christmas time and to taste its hot wine and cheese at the market (recipe under the pics!). As always, I love cities at night and this one was not disappointing

Hot wine recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 1 oranges

  • 1 (750 milliliter) bottle red wine

  • 1/2 piece of fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced

  • 1-1/2 cinnamon sticks

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

  • 2 tablespoons and 2 teaspoons brown sugar, or to taste

  • 2 tablespoons brandy (optional)

Step 1

Remove the zest from the oranges in strips, Then, juice the oranges into a large, heavy-bottomed pot.

Step 2

Pour the red wine into the pot with the orange juice. Place the strips of orange zest, ginger, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and brown sugar into the pot with the wine mixture; stir to dissolve the sugar.

Step 3

Cover and heat over medium-high until heated through, but not boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and heat for an hour or longer to bring all of the flavors together. Adjust the sweetness by adding more brown sugar, as necessary. Strain and serve hot with a splash of brandy, if desired.
